Come to your appointment wearing loose, comfortable clothing. After an in-depth assessment of your condition, you will lie comfortably on a massage table and very fine, single use sterile needles will be inserted through the skin at specific points on the body to stimulate your Qi.
Acupuncture needles are very thin, so insertion usually causes little discomfort. Between five and 20 needles are used in a typical treatment. Sometimes the points are far removed from the area of your pain.
Needle sensations vary from person to person, some reporting a tiny pinch while others feel virtually nothing at all. As the Qi is reached, a mild tingling sensation may be felt, a flow of warmth, a feeling of gentle pressure, or nothing.
Some people feel relaxed and others feel energized after an acupuncture treatment. Everyone is different. Repeat treatments may or may not be necessary, depending on the severity of the condition. Some conditions need only 1 or 2 sessions, while other long term conditions may need additional treatments.
